BIOGRAPHY
The seeds of the band were planted
in late 1999 when Ross Markonish (guitar) gave a tape
of Sir Lord Baltimore?s Kingdom Come to Will Broadbent
(drums). Soon, they realized that it was time to fulfill
their true calling: to kick out the jams, motherfucker!
The concept in place, they now needed that missing piece
of the riff rock puzzle. Enter Ed Cunningham, bassist/vocalist
extraordinaire and metal head supreme. Ready to rock,
Ed joined forces with Ross and Will, and together they
quickly wrote and recorded a 4-track demo cassette of
70s style power trio heaviness that garnered high praise
in the underground metal and stoner rock community.
In 2003, the band released its first full length, Dawn
of the Proto-Man, which was named Album of The Year
by Peacedogman.com and Top 5 Debut Albums of 2003 by
Chris Barnes on HellrideMusic.com. OGRE has played countless
shows in the New England area and have embarked on a
few mini-tours, with more road trips to come. OGRE has
shared the stage with such great bands as Place of Skulls,
Earthride, Bongzilla, Milligram, Yob, Dove, Wooly Mammoth,
5ive, Scissorfight, and many more. In 2006, OGRE signed
with Japan?s Leaf Hound Records to release Seven Hells,
their second full-length album. Drawing on the influences
of such bands as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rush, Saint
Vitus, Pentagram, Buffalo, Budgie, and Dust, OGRE are
a call to arms for those music fans who feel they were
born too late. |
